What should we, as children, be careful about when surfing the internet?

  • I do not share personal information such as my address, phone number, workplace address, my parents’ phone numbers, or the name and address of my school without my parents’ permission.

  • I will inform my parents immediately if I come across any information that makes me feel uncomfortable.

  • I will not meet anyone I have talked to online without consulting my parents. If my parents agree to the meeting, it will take place in a public space with my mom or dad present.

  • I will not send my photo to anyone without first consulting my parents.

  • I will not respond to any messages that offend me or make me feel uncomfortable. It is not my fault if I receive such a message. If I do, I will tell my parents immediately so they can contact the service provider.

  • I will discuss with my parents to establish rules for surfing the internet. Together, we will decide what time of day I can go online, how long I can surf, and which websites I can visit. I will not visit “restricted” websites without my parents’ permission.

  • I will not share my password with anyone except my parents, not even my best friend.

  • I will consult with my parents about anything I want to download, install, or do that might harm my computer or compromise our family’s privacy.

  • I will be a responsible internet user and will not do anything illegal.

  • I will help my parents understand how to have fun and learn online, teaching them about the internet, computers, and other technology.
